Kombucha Label Design
Project type
Illustrated Bottle Labels
Date
April 2024
Location
London, ON
Objective - The objective of this project was to create a brand identity and labels for a craft kombucha (a tea based beverage) company. The kombucha is made with second generation glucose generated from recycled t-shirt cutoffs.
Process - I was inspired by of fruit stickers. I liked how the fruit stickers fit a lot of information into a small space without looking cramped, and the fruit sticker also represents the fresh and local produce that the kombucha company uses in their recipe. I chose modern and on trend typefaces to reflect the fresh and new nature of the project, and to appeal to the younger target market. I chose to use various symbols and colours to represent the flavours, instead of just showing a photo or illustration of the fruit/ingredient used in the flavour. The colours correspond with the fruit and flavours in the drink. I used these symbols on both the labels and caps to create cohesion throughout the bottle. The bottle I was supplied was curved so I ensured to keep that in mind while designing the label.
FUN FACT: This design won a bronze award for best overall design in a design competition with around 90 participants.
